for this to be my first online class and my first class attending Clemson University I would have to say it was a pretty good one.  It was not so hard that I thought I might die but be no means was it so easy I was sure I could get by doing nothing.  I enjoyed the blog part of it and getting to write something basically everyday.  So, overall this class was a very good learning experience in both English and the online class world!  Goodbye English 103... it has been a good Summer!

reality

You can tell what reality is because you can feel it.  Yes, you can feel the terror of a nightmare but in most cases you can't even remember what it was that scared.  You can feel reality physically and emotionally.  You feel the fur on a puppy and you also feel the companionship between the two of you.  When reading a book you can only feel the emotions portrayed and visualize what it is like but in reality when there is a scene filled with drama you feel the emotional tension and see exactly who the problem is with because you are a third person just watching/visualizing.  You can know what is real by how you can feel it.

Im sure we all have passed these statues in front of Mell hall! The statue is of a student and a soldier.  It is meant to represent that the boy/students during WW2 that had to quickly turn into men and go off to war.  The statues are beautiful and really do represent the shift from boy to man really well.  They were dedicated in 1993 as a gift to the university from the class of '44.

netflix is a good website. the design makes it easy to navigate and even bring suggestions of things you might want to watch on the homepage. 

Argren.net is a bad web design because there is too many things going on at once.  The whole set up of the website is sloppy and hard to navigate.

Magazines!

14 whole pages of royal tour photos! the word Dazzling is made huge and bright to get the attention. Following dazing is "Will & Kate Conquer America".  The photo is a picture of Kate looking very pretty and well put together as always.   On the first page of the article a friend says "They are a great love match.  She was always by his side.  Their spontaneity is lovely".  The cover shows Kate very poised and proper and throught the article the picture shown and things they did on their visit to America was nothing less than poised and proper.  They had a-list celebrities star struck.  CEO of the inner-city arts said that they were "warm and nurturing" when they visited there.  The fourteen pages of the article are filled with pictures and compliments from people who they met on their visit.

types of advertising. who are they aiming for? more TV commercials are aimed toward the youth. also on time.  it would be very inappropriate for Trojan to have a commercial during blues clues. More billboards are aimed for adults. The driver is the one who is going to focus on the billboard so therefor they are going to appeal to them.  Magazine and newspapers ads are dependent on the readers.  Again Trojan wouldn't wanna have an ad in a youth magazine or christian magazine.  What makes the company decide to put what ad where?  How much money goes into ads.

Republicans do not suck.  I am a republican so therefore they do not suck.
Obama sucks.  Obama has done nothing to impress me.
Harry Potter does not suck.  Harry Potter is one of the most entertaining series.
Apple product do not suck.  I own many apple product and they are been very useful.
Star Wars does not suck.  They were very ahead of their time and were awesome.
Facebook sucks.  It only sucks cause it is so addicting.
McDonalds sucks.  It might be the original fast food joint but the food is disgusting!
Clemson University does not suck.  Clemson has so much to offer and a place for everyone.

Justin Bieber does not suck.  I've been struck with Bieber Fever, he actually does have talent.
Sudoku sucks.  It is a headache and a waste of time.

Xbox 360 sucks.  It is also time consuming and distracting.
American Idol sucks.  There have been too many seasons, the show needs to retire!
Glee does not suck.  It has comedy and music, what else could you possible need?
Cigarettes suck.  They are used to make people look cool but if cancer is cool then go right ahead.
Guns do not suck.  This is only true when in the hands of the right people. Guns are good for hunting and sometimes a sense of security.
Abortion sucks.  Abortion sucks because people are all up in everyones business. I do not care what you do but just know that it is basically murder.
Dogs that a forced to be dressed up suck.  It isn't natural!

my writing process

Writing does not come that naturally to me. When I write I cannot be sitting at a desk. Sometimes I sit on the floor or my bed, but never outside because there are too many distractions.  Depending on what I am writing for or about I use music to help me think and stay relaxed.  A diet Dr. Pepper is always close by while I'm slaving away.  When a writers block comes the first thing I do is call my mom.  No, not so she can help me but just so we can gossip and I can stop thinking about writing for a while.  If that doesn't then I go to Netfilx and watch an Episode of Brothers & Sisters.  If neither of those work I just stop writing for a while and eventually something just comes to me.  I actually had about 500 words done with this paper and decided I did not really like what I had said or the picture I was using.  I started completely over.  The second time my picture was better and it was much easier to write about.  I still have a whole lot of work to do by friday but I'm getting there!

No plagiarizing and candy!

I swear I will not cheat and/or plagiarize in this course or any course. All my life I have been told that cheating will only hurt me.  I find this to be very true.  Right now I am currently enrolled at Clemson University to further my education and I do not see what I could possibly gain by using someone else's work as my own.  So if I cheat now in higher level courses when the subject comes up and I have no clue what is going one that is gonna hurt.  This is all stuff that we are going to have to learn eventually, so why not just do it the right way the first time.  I also enjoy school and learning so it makes it easy for me not to even think about cheating.  I'd rather be wrong and learn from mistakes. So, Mr. Butts I promise to you that you wont see me cheating!

Crocodiles!!!!!

Crocodiles are majestic, powerful, and amazing creatures.  They are the largest reptiles in the world; reaching up to 15 feet long. They can also live up to 70 years old.  Often we portray them as nasty viscous creatures possibly due to our own fear.  American Crocodiles are more rare than you think with only around 1,000.  They use their power to survive and not to intentionally harm humans.  The cold-blooded animals are amazing because they can go days without eating because of their slow metabolism.  Todays movies and television have taken away from the real beauty of these creatures.  It is a shame that their beautiful skin is used to make bags and shoes.  These creatures need to be protected.  


Crocodiles are ridiculous looking, silly, and lame creatures.  They are so only useful when it comes to making shoes and bags out of their skin!  Their short arms makes them look ridiculous.  You can't help but laugh at their silly run!  There is no real use for these animals. They are actual more trouble then their existence is worth. They are only man slaughtering machines.  Lame only describes how slow they move.  If one starts to chase you just run circles around it and I bet it will never catch you.  Maybe crocodiles would be cooler if there was a croc hunting season.

Visual Rhetoric

Many of us have seen the ads for subways $5 footlong. They are clearly trying to get people in their stores with this deal but I don't think this slogan was targeted at just one group of people.  literally the ad is saying that at Subway you can a get foot long sub sandwich for only five dollars.  Some people would take that literally and think it is a good deal.  Then of course the more immature youth takes a look at these commercials and and can't help but get a good laugh.  I'm sure the slogan five dollar foot long was not meant to perverted but the youth of the nation has definitely made it this way. At least the slogan did catch on and everyone knows that is came from the subway commercials and ads. There are even shirts being sold now that have the slogan on them but they are not promoting subway I assure you.

The ads and commercials that Subway released definitely got people's attention.

Oh, by the way I do not like subs or really any sandwich other than grilled cheese.

My introduction

Hello, I am Abbi Randolph. I am a transfer student from Converse College.  I played soccer at Converse but decided 12 years of playing was enough, so I quit. Also the fact it is an all girls college encouraged my leaving.   I am a sophomore psychology major.  Don't bother asking me what I plan on doing with my life because I don't have an answer yet.  I was born and raised in South Carolina, I love it here.  I've been coming to Clemson football games before I could even walk.  I prefer the lake over the beach any day.   I have a jet ski named Bumble Bee because Transformers 1-3 are my favorite movies of all time.  I would rather watch an action movie over a silly romance movie but I love reading romance novels.  I have a tendency to call myself the awkward one but I'm really not that awkward. Except saying that was probably pretty awkward.  English is my weakest subject so I'm nervous about this class.

I hate spam.  No,  Not the spam that comes in a can but when someone blows up my Facebook newsfeed or Twitter.  I do not see the need in posting what you are doing or thinking every five minutes.  Especially lately people have been posting nonstop about the Casey Anthony trail.  If we wanted a play by play we would turn on the TV to watch it ourselves so therefore your commentary is completely unnecessary.  Twitter is awesome to post things that you cannot on Facebook but some people take it too far by letting us know when you get in the shower, when you get out of the shower, when you put on your clothes and then post a picture after.  That is just way too much and I am pretty sure that no one cares that much about what you are doing.  There is a good chance if you blow up Twitter like that I will unfollow you or unfriend you on Facebook.

This picture is a good representation of myself because I like to dressed up and look classy but I still find myself making these foolish kind of faces regardless of the event.
